Minnesota doesn’t require individual employees of mechanical contractors to obtain state licenses. However, cities may require individuals to obtain licenses or competency cards issued through local municipalities.
Businesses
Businesses wishing to perform HVAC, gas, fuel burning, or refrigeration work in Minnesota must file a $25,000 mechanical contractor bond with the DLI.
How to Apply for Your Minnesota Mechanical Contractors Bond
To apply for your mechanical contractor’s license, follow the instructions in DLI’s Business Registration Packet. Use the checklist below to successfully obtain your Minnesota mechanical contractor bond as quickly as possible:
