Who needs a street opening bond in Ocean County, New Jersey?

All street opening contractors must apply for a permit and post a surety bond. Ocean County will set the bond amount after it receives a contractor’s permit application and proposed work plans.

Street opening contractors must also provide the following:

  • A permit application fee, determined by the class of work performed
  • Liability insurance in the following amounts: $300,000 per person; $1,000,000 per accident; $50,000 property damages
  • A Certificate of Occupancy
